Winter Skin Survival Guide
Do you notice that as soon as the weather changes, so does your skin?In colder weather we need heat on in our homes/cars. We are also drinking less water, which means our skin suffers the most. In fact we cannot drink enough water to have moist skin. Therefore we must apply moisture topically until it stays…locked in. Begin with a gentle cleanser alternated with a glycolic type cleanser a few times per week After cleansing the skin is quite vulnerable and the ph level has been altered. This is the best time to begin to hydrate. Do you use a toner? No you say, I don’t bother and don’t know what it does. For hydrating the skin, it is crucial. On clean skin you will apply your toner, when trying to hydrate; a spray toner is most beneficial. With the right ingredients such as our Simply Skin Softening Toner with rose oil, your toner will begin to hydrate the skin. Now you can feed your skin….no calories! Clean, toned skin is ready for nutrition (serums) and moisture locking/protective creams. Serums can range from oils to gels. This lighter consistency reminds us that serums are applied before our moisturizer. First applied after the toner, they can do the most work to improve specific concerns for our skin. Serums are mostly comprised of vitamins, usually derived from botanicals. Now protect with a purpose! Moisturizers have a job to do. Not only do they protect your skin, they must have a purpose. Personally, I use Simply Skin Lifting Cream. I know that with the licorice extract, it is helping to firm my skin every morning and night when massaged into the skin. Of course, winter or summer, this is always followed by a sunscreen for daytime. Your body has skin too! Have you ever tried to ice a home baked cake before it was cool enough? That is what it can be like to put moisturizer on your body if it is not properly exfoliated! Too many “crumbs” can make your moisturizer just sit there. Exfoliation is the key.
